Institutional Needs Assessment, Sep – Dec 2025

Dear Colleagues,

The Office of Academic Research (OAR) invites you to participate in an institutional needs assessment “Exploring Research Engagement and Scholarly Activities at Yorkville University: Practices, Motivations, and Opportunities“. This research aims at mapping the current landscape of research and scholarly activities among Yorkville faculty and staff. This initiative will help identify strengths, areas for growth, and opportunities for enhanced support and capacity building across our organization.

Your perspective is vital! By contributing your insights, you will help shape the ways in which we celebrate, promote, encourage and benefit from the excellent scholarly work happening at Yorkville.

This research has been approved by the Yorkville University Research Ethics Board. Participation is entirely voluntary, and all responses will be kept strictly confidential. Any identifying information will be removed before analysis and reporting.

Who can participate?

All full-time and part-time faculty and staff across Yorkville’s campuses and the head office.

 

Two Ways to Participate:

You can participate in any one or both of these data gathering opportunities.

 

  • Complete an online survey (Approximately 15-20 minutes): Share your research experience, engagement, motivations, aspirations, and support needs for research at Yorkville University.
  • Attend a focus group (Approximately 75 minutes): Join a small-group conversation to share your unique insights and perspectives.

Senior Educational Developer, Faculty Excellence and Development

Matthew Dunleavy (he/him) is an educational developer and scholarly teacher with over 9+ years’ experience. He immediately joins our CTEI from York University where he was an Educational Developer with the Teaching Commons; before entering that role, he served as the Program Director of the Online Learning and Technology Consultants (OLTC) Program at the Maple League of Universities (Acadia University; Bishop’s University; Mount Allison University; and St. Francis Xavier University). In 2022, he was awarded the D2L Innovation Award in Teaching and Learning by the Society for Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (STLHE) for this work.
